Somatic Sexology

Coming home to our bodies,
cultivating joy and mindfulness in sexuality,
getting curious about our challenges and our needs.

Your body is the answer.

The ways you experience sensuality, eroticism, sexual pleasure, desire and arousal – and the ways you don’t – are normal and beautiful.

Most of us are brought up to feel uneasy, ashamed or unsafe around sexuality, shaped by social norms of disembodiment and power-over relating. We are rarely given language or empowered in our voice to explore these issues.

But we can find resilience and healing through mindful practice, cultivating choice, safety and pleasure. The key is coming home to our own bodies.

We need gentle spaces to explore our questions, unlearn damaging myths, slow down, get curious, and learn how to be present for ourselves.

Because eroticism is complex and fabulous, and sex is a skill. Good sex takes practice. (It’s worth it.)

I welcome clients of all genders, sexual orientations and relationships styles. You can benefit from sessions as an individual or together with a partner. I particularly enjoy working with queer and genderqueer people. I believe healing and growth often require noticing collective and systemic patterns, so that we can gradually find new ways to respond to our conditions.

We can explore:

-          Consent and boundary skills

-          Befriending shame or anxiety

-          Premature ejaculation or erection issues

-          Easing pelvic pain, and how to have pain-free sex

-          Loving and feeling at home in your body

-          Self-pleasure

-          How to orgasm

-          Anal pleasure

-          Anatomy and physiology that’s useful for you

-          How to develop sexual confidence

-          How to give and receive pleasure

-          Rediscovering your sexual self after giving birth or having surgery

-          Similarities and differences between you and your partner(s)

-          Unlearning sexual conditioning and rewriting your sexual script

-          Expanding pleasure potential

What do sessions involve?

We get curious about how sexuality works for you, and where you want to explore new ways to relate to yourself and others. I will support you using clearly defined exercises and co-created agreements.

My intention is for you to feel more “you” in sexual situations, to build the skills to find ease and create pleasure in sex - or simply to feel more at ease with your erotic self, however you express that.

I use methods from Sexological Bodywork, including the Wheel of Consent, nervous system regulation skills, self-pleasure coaching and witnessing, genital and anal mapping, and massage. Pleasure and arousal are welcome and not necessary. I also use exercises from Circling and other traditions that fit within the ethical code of the Association of Certified Sexological Bodyworkers.

We bring mindfulness and gentle compassion to the body. We can work hands-on or hands-off. We always go slow enough to learn and expand without feeling stressed or overwhelmed. Sessions are clearly boundaried, building consent skills is always a priority, and less is usually more.
